Blog,
I personally never read blogs because I don't understand them too well. I think that people should only use blogs if they have some valuable information that they think others might find helpful. I'm not 100% sure why people read blogs either. I suppose that if you had a friend who moved to China for a year and you couldn't call them that it would a nice way to hear about what they're doing.
I'm also not exactly sure how this will help me in my PDS, I guess we'll find out! I always thought, though, that the best way to find an answer for a job related question was to ask a seasoned teacher in your own school who had knowledge of the other students and current situations. I suppose for this course, other students would be able to help but I'm not sure how many people will be checking this. I think that potentially, this could be a useful resource, but I'm still a bit skeptical. But I have been proven wrong before, and this could open up a whole new world of information for me.

I feel the same way. Maybe we can figure this out together! Hopefully things will look up and different assignments will become more manageable or less stressful. I'm glad we share the same opinion, hopefully we can look past our hesitations and figure this out together. Thanks for commenting on my blog; enjoy your weekend!

Molly, I acknowledge your apprehension about blogging. I had the same feeling last Fall when my professor required us to do blogging. But, after a few postings and comments from my peers, I realized they shared the same concerns as I had. This increased my confidence. Some of the comments generated wonderful ideas and suggestions that I found useful. Since nobody has a monopoly of knowledge, the blog offered thus a space where we bounced off ideas from each other.
ReplyDeleteI also believe that if the postings are thorough and well thought, they can elicit deep comments. I saw interns last year use some of their blog postings as artifacts for their intern exit portfolio.
Trust that as you post, some of your philosophy stand points will emerge, change or be enlarged because of what you are experiencing in your PDSs. I hope you enjoy the blog postings. Do not hesitate to post your fears and concerns.
I can see a point to what Harrison has said. While I still want to hold on to the meaning behind talking to people in person, it can be a good idea to write out some ideas so you, as the author, can really get a sound feel on what you are writing and sound like to your reader(s). You know? Kind of like messaging on Facebook, I guess.
