It is the court's job to decide if people are guilty or innocent, if their cases should be appealed or not and if laws are constitutional or not. They must try to be as fair and balanced as possible.
Cases begin in the district court in which a judge and jury decide if a person or group of people are guilty or innocent of a crime. If the defendant is not content with the ruling, they may take their case to the court of appeals where it may be retried. On issues that are of national or presidential importance, the supreme court gets involved and is the main decided on whether or not something is constitutional or not.

Blog Numero Tres, El Ultimo del Semestre!
This is the last one of the year!!! : D Well, Claire, as we both know, I was definitely NOT happy about having to make a blog at the beginning of the year! Overall though, it hasn't been too bad. Originally I thought that we were going to have to do it every week and I wouldn't have enjoyed that at all haha. Turns out that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I enjoy reading about Claire's time in her PDS and I value her feedback :) My small group facilitator commented each of my posts last semester, but I don't think that my new one has. Also, no one from my PDS reads this so I really think that it's basically just me and Claire on here!
One thing that I would like to maybe see changed, but I'm not sure how, would be that I feel like I'm more a part of the Foreign Language department than I am in the Education department. Maybe it's just because I have more Spanish classes during the week than EDUC and so I see the people in those classes more often, but it was just something that always bugged me a little.
It seems weird to we that I'm already a junior and only have one more year after next! It seems like it was just last week that I was a freshman who wanted to be a theatre major, then a photography major and many more until I finally settled with Spanish. My question for you, Claire would be 1.) Do you feel like you are more closely tied to the English or Education department and 2.) what was your favorite part about the year : )
Oh! And also to your comment on one of the blogs about incorporating music in the English classroom, we just did a section on poetry in my Spanish Lit. class and we talked about how songs are actually poems just put to music and then we all had to do a hw assignment where we broke down the lyrics of a song that we liked : ) Just a suggestion, it was pretty fun though!

Spring Blog Numero Dos
I didn't have too many learning goals for this semester that were different from last. I did want to speak more Spanish in the classroom and also have the students call me Miss Hott instead of Molly. I also wanted to be more organized.
So far, I don't speak much more Spanish in the class than last semester only because in Spanish 1 they would not be able to understand me and I don't want to be seen as the crazy Spanish tutor who no one can understand :)
As far as being called Miss Hott, my students now do call me that and I think it makes me seem less like a student and more like a teacher figure, someone who can actually help them and not just someone who's observing and doesn't know anything.
Lastly, I do feel like I've been more organized this semester, in part because of the chart we had to make. I actually think that helped a good bit. I still need to get my activity for EDUC 400 in about teaching a small group but I think I may just do two large group lessons. I want to do one lesson about the culture of Spain and some of their foods and then I know that my teacher wants me to teach a short Zumba class so I will probably combine that with a short lesson about the dances, where they come from, etc.
So far though, I'm really happy with my new class :) Hope everything is going well in your school, Claire! :)

Spring '11 Blog Numero Uno
I haven't given too much thought about my digital story yet but I'm kind of excited to do it. I think that we can probably be more creative with the assignment than with the slide show from last semester. So far I don't really have any incredibly interesting stories from my PDS but maybe I'll talk about teaching Zumba classes last semester and my experiences with that or maybe about getting my new mentor teacher.
I think that what makes a story good is it's relevance to the reader and it's ability to grab and keep one's attention. Like I said before, I"m still not positive what I want to write about so I should probably start thinking a little bit more seriously about that! : )
I think that in this case, using multimedia will be the main way that I get my story across. I consider myself a pretty good photographer so I'm excited to take pictures in my PDS. I might try to make a few a little artistic but maybe not, we'll see : ).
